These squiggles are all over the beach. Can you guess what makes them?

We found these on the beach. Can you guess what they are?

Zancudo, Costa Rica

This is our family before we left the YWAM base.

Mike took this amazing picture of our amazing backsides. We are in Zancudo Costa Rica. We got here a few days ago and the weather is amazing. We are being blessed with one of the most beautiful places and we are loving it.

work and play at YWAM

We tried to help out as much as we could at the base. Some of it was fun and some of it was hard work. Most of the staff were gone on Christmas break and there was a lot to do around the base.
One of the fun things that the girls loved was to help take care of the horse.

We also tried to help with milking the goat.

One morning we mixed up 6 loads of cement and hauled it by wheelbarrow down the driveway.

One of the things we helped out with was to bring the goats out to pasture everyday and then bring them in at night.

Beautiful Costa Rica

Sometimes in the midst of ugliness, when all you can see is barbed wire and tin shacks. God shows us that He is always there.

Last day at YWAM Heredia

Dean and Mike were trying to finish working on the barn. But when the rain finally stopped the power went out for most of the day.

We have been trying to get the goat barn finished but we have been running into a few problems. The weather has been so bad because of the rain and high winds that we haven't had power for most of the day in the last 3 days. So either it was raining to hard to work in or the power was out and we couldn't use the tools or charge up the cordless tools. So Dean and Mike did what they could and used the tools that worked to do the job. We went down to the nearby town for lunch yesterday waiting for the power to go back on and we finally saw some sun. It was a nice blessing to feel warm for an hour. It was hard to want to go back up the mountain and feel cold again. We had to go shopping in town to buy more warm clothes. I know everyone back home is thinking "oh big deal at least you don't have -30 and snow" but what we do have in 62 degrees in side with 75 km hour winds and rain and humid with houses that have 2 inch gaps under the doors and no source of heat. I just keep remembering the people who are living on this mountain that are living in this weather but are only in a tin shack. (oh ya and we have mice in our room). So enough complaining I know I'll stop now. We have been having a great time inspite of the weather with the Fehr family. The kids have been running around having a hoot with the animals and helping work.

cement mixer

Mixing cement by hand is overrated. Today we rented an electric mixer and will finish the other half of the cement work by lunch. Yesterday it took most of the day to do the other half. We had three Canadian families working on the cement the last few days. There is a couple serving on the base for the winter from Ontario, Mike,Jamie,Tanner and Johanna, and our family. We thought it was pretty cool to represent our country so well.
Dean is busy starting the second side of the pad.

Mike and Tanner are busy at work hauling cement and trolling it smooth.

We are so happy that we got a cement mixer. It took less than half the time to do the second side.

Happy goats

Today we spent the whole day hauling gravel and sand and cement. Then we hand mixed the concrete for half the barn. Tomorrow we will do the other half of the base and then we can start on the wooden part of the building.
The goats on the base seemed especially happy today. They must know that soon they will have a new home.
